Eric B and Rakim are readying a reunion after over 20 years of being separated.

The legendary hip-hop group burst on the scene back in 1987 and released the classic “Paid in Full” album that changed the face of rap forever. They broke up back in 1992 after some financial issues with their record label. They seem to have patched things up as the rapper and his DJ took to Twitter to officially announce their reunion earlier this week. “It’s official. You heard it here first,” tweeted Eric B and Rakim. “We are back.” They also hinted at a new tour. “Preparations are under way for #EricBandRakim’s return. It’s been a long time,” they wrote. The group followed that by asking fans to vote for where they think they should kick off their next tour. New York has the highest amount right now which isn’t surprising since the two are icons who hail from hip-hop’s mecca.

Eric B and Rakim released 4 albums as a group and are credited by rappers like Nas and 50 Cent as some of their main influences. Their debut album “Paid in Full” was named by MTV as the #1 album in the history of hip-hop. Tracks like “Eric B. Is President,” “I Ain’t No Joke,” and “Paid in Full have been cited by so many rappers and producers throughout the years. Most recently, J.Cole shouted out “I Ain’t No Joke” in “January 28” off his now double platinum album “2014 Forest Hills Drive.” “I ain’t play no games, boy I ain’t no joke Like the great Rakim, when I make my notes,” raps Cole on the track.
