A mural was created for young rapper Lil Yachty in Jacksonville, Fla, but unfortunately, it no longer exists. It was created by Jacksonville-based artist Nico but was taken down just one day after Lil Boat showed off the street art on his Instagram page.

“I had a mural,” Yachty tells XXL. “They covered it up because they was hating on me cause I’m not from Jacksonville. That was dope but they covered it up the next day. People hate on me every day but y’all know that. Y’all see the hate. It’s all good though. God keeps blessing me. I’m probably going to get a statue or something next. It’s going to be something better.”

After Yachty posted the mural on Instagram, he received mixed reviews on social media. His faithful fans felt it was well deserved, while others felt it was way too early for him to receive such an honor. The "Minnesota" rapper is no stranger to controversy. His comments about not caring to know about hip-hop history and distaste for "serious music" has rubbed many people the wrong way. Yachty, however, keeps his spirits high and is unbothered by the criticism as he still soaking up his newfound success.

“I don’t even know what’s going to happen next,” Yachty says. “I just wake up and there’s something amazing on my phone.”
