Wale set some blogs off this week after TMZ reported on a confrontation he had with a stranger out in public. Video of the incident captured the D.C. rapper following a woman outside of Bootsy Bellows nightclub in West Hollywood, before meeting her face to face. While it's hard to hear exactly what words were spoken, their exchange takes on a sudden surge of tension when he knocks a container of food she was holding, out of her hand. What is clear in the footage is that the woman had blown a cloud of smoke in his face before his explosion. On Friday, October 7, TMZ gave Wale a call to allow him the chance to explain what caused the friction.

According to Wale, he had been joking around with the woman's friend to cool her down after an argument she had gotten into moments prior. "I was like "yo, no body shaming man. I feel disrespected because I'm from bulimia," he quipped after the friend referred to her counterpart as a "fat b***h."  The woman who he'd wind up tangling with took exception to him referencing the eating disorder, he says, and let him know by stating, "you people are so disrespectful."

"I don't know where ya'll are from, but where I'm from when you say "you people," like, it just enrages me," he told hosts Harvey Levin and Charles Latibeaudiere. "That's when I walked to her. And then she took a whiff out of, I guess it's a vape thing? One of those big square ones; blew it in my face. And I was like, "Yo!" She was like "What are you going to do? What are you going to do?" I said "I'm not going to hit a girl" like come on man. So I just smacked her food. You don't even deserve to eat."
