This past week, a video of a Christian mother speaking on Vince Staples' song "Norf Norf" surfaced via YouTube. In the video, the mother described being in the car and hearing the song on the radio, even going as far as reciting a portion of the lyrics and how she was offended by the track's message. Her recounting of hearing the song even brought her to tears.  Many fans and viewers of the video have taken to social media to express their thoughts on the woman, with some people even referring to her thoughts on the song as having a breakdown. However, Vince Staples does not agree with what people are saying about the woman and even defended her right to express her thoughts.

Initially, Vince Staples was quoted by The Independent with stance of defense for the woman, but later took to Twitter to claim he was misquoted. Via a series of tweets, Staples cleared the air, saying "Thank you to Justin Carissimo for the misquote. Great Job. What I was saying was that the woman in that video is clearly confused on the context of the song which causes her to be frightened. She also, in my opinion, seems to be emotionally unstable. With both those things being said, she has a right to her opinion. No person needs to be attacked for their opinion on what they see to be appropriate for their children. They have a right to it. This misunderstanding of our community leads to miscommunication which we should convert into a progressive dialogue. That's all I have to say about that. Stop asking me."
