Kaepernick's comments labeling both Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump as "proven liars," who appeared to be debating to prove "who's less racist," drew the ire of political satirist, Bill Maher, who followed up by attempting to put the San Francisco 49'ers quarterback in his place.

"#ColinKapernick is an idiot. I support his protest, but stick to what u know: kneeling and interceptions, and then look up "false equivalency"," Maher tweeted, upon learning of the remarks. During Friday's [September 30] episode of "Real Time with Bill Maher," he doubled down on Kaepernick while explaining that he doesn't see any sense in comparing Clinton with Trump, especially in terms of their views on race. In addition to dismissing the notion that Clinton is racist, Maher challenged Kaepernick's assertion that she lies as much as Trump does, saying "Clinton lies less than most politicians," and drawing a contrast with her republican challenger by citing statistics that reported 78% of Trump's claims during the debate to have been fact-checked as "mostly false," or "false."

Following a team workout on Tuesday, reporters asked Kaepernick whether he watched the debate and how he felt about them. Kaepernick chuckled and shook his head, calling it "embarrassing" to watch. "At this point ... you have to pick the lesser of two evils. But in the end, it's still evil," he said.
