The body camera recording of a police shooting that claimed the life of a 6-year old autistic boy in Marksville, Louisiana last November, was brought to light on Wednesday [September 28], after the judge overseeing the case ordered its release. Upon making his decision to publicize the video, District Court Judge William Bennett declared that it counters the defense's argument that the driver, Christopher Few, 26, had used his vehicle in a manner that caused a threat to officers. The footage is set to be used as evidence in the up-coming trials of the two officers charged with 2nd degree murder in the shooting.

According to officers Derrick Stafford, 32, and Norris Greenhouse Jr., 23, Few had led them on a pursuit that they alleged turned deadly when Few rammed his SUV into their cruiser. He had proceeded to back into them once again at the moment they selected to open fire, they claimed. It will be difficult for the defense to stand behind their argument of self-defense following the video's release, as it doesn't appear to show Few backing up, and in fact, seems to reveal through the driver's side window, that he had his hands up when the shots rang out. When officers finally moved in, one can be heard whispering "F**k, ooh," before alerting the others that "there's a kid."

As officers proceeded past Few, whose critically wounded body hung slumped and bloody out of his window, they came to discover little Jeremy Mardis strapped into the vehicles front passenger seat. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
