Fetty Wap’s team is now being sued for jacking the beat to the rapper’s breakout hit “Trap Queen.”

A Danish songwriter, Lazar Lakic, alleged that he had first purchased exclusive rights for the beat from producer Tony Fadd in 2014, according to TMZ. He claims Wap used a sample of beat in “Trap Queen” and is seeking damages. He also stated that Fadd contacted him to buy the rights back to the beat, but he declined. They still went forward with the record without his permission which ended up going 4x platinum and turned Fetty Wap into one of today’s biggest rap stars.

Fetty’s attorney told TMZ that the rapper legally purchased the exclusive rights to the beat and has the contract to prove it. If they end up losing this suit, they will attempt to sue Lakic for selling them an instrumental that he had already granted exclusive rights to. Lakic’s suit aims to not only gain him profits from the song, but also to destroy all future sales and copies of it.
