Six people are being treated in a Houston hospital, after a man wearing a Nazi uniform opened fire near a strip mall, on Monday, September 26. Up to nine were reported injured in the incident, which happened at around 6:30 a.m. in the southwest province of the city. The attacker, who was effectively cut down by police, was identified as 46-year-old Nathan Desai, an attorney whose law firm went under in February, due to financial.

According to reports, what could have been a massacre was stifled when police prevailed in a gun battle with Desai, who ducked behind a tree as he exchanged rounds. Moments earlier he had begun shooting at an intersection between a Walgreen and a Chuck E. Cheese, and after combing the area were able to identify him as the owner of a Porshe that investigators say contained weapons conducive to a mass shooting. Among their findings was a .45-caliber handgun and a "Tommy Gun" alongside approximately 2,600 rounds of ammunition. They also found a notebook bearing a swastika on it. More guns and more Nazi paraphernalia was discovered at DeSai's home.

The FBI has ruled out the possibility that DeSai had contacts with any identified terrorist network. Family members of the slain killer said that he had been exhibiting erratic behavior since losing his practice. "He went his way with his practice, and I went with mine," said Kenneth McDaniel, who had operated the practice with DeSai for 12 years. "All I can say it's a horrible situation. I'm sad for everyone involved."
