The Miami Marlins paid tribute to teammate José Fernández on Monday (September 26) before they took on the Mets. It was the first game the Marlins played since Fernández's death over the weekend, and players from both sides were emotional during the touching tribute.

The tribute was taken a step further when Dee Gordon stepped to the plate wearing José Fernández's helmet and a number 16 shaved into the back of his head. After taking the first pitch from the right-side of the plate to honor Fernández, Gordon moved to the left side and hit a home run to a roaring crowd.

Check out the moment up top.
