Surveillance video from the inside of a Gwinnett County, GA residence shows an invasion that took a bold turn, when a woman staying in the home suddenly bursts out blasting, killing one and chasing off a pair of surviving intruders.
The unidentified occupant of the Spring Drive residence, seen in the video, is said to be a housemate of its owner, who works at a local restaurant. But moments after the assailants are seen kicking the front door in, she rushes out to confront them in defense of the property. "She exercised her right to defend her livelihood," Cpl. Deon Washington of the Gwinnett County Police Department told a local news station about the incident. In the video, the men scatter at the sound of gunfire, with one man running back out through the front entrance, while another jumps through a glass door leading to the back. The intruder who fell casualty was discovered to have succumbed to his injuries in the driveway.
Police suspect that the motive behind the 4:30 a.m. break-in entailed the intruders searching for money. Police continue to investigate, as a search is under way for any possible suspects.
