It was announced this week that 11-time NBA All-Star, Chris Bosh, has failed a pre-training camp physical, putting his future with the Miami Heat in question. The organization has in effect suspended its consent for him to resume basketball activities, announcing the news in a statement which concludes that "there is no timetable for his return."

A clause in the league's collective bargaining agreement prevents the team from disclosing specifics about a players health, but sources have confirmed his long battle with complications from blood clots to be the cause. Bosh has been out of action for all of last, and most of the prior season due to clotting, with a February 2015 CT scan revealing that clots had at one point traveled to his lungs, causing a pulmonary embolism. His struggle with the condition is a matter that he is currently documenting for a series that is being released through LeBron James' Uninterrupted.com. Bosh has released a statement through the website, stating, “Little setbacks happen, but that doesn’t change my intentions and what I want accomplish. So, I hope you continue to watch. I hope you continue to really just take in my journey and just come along with me, with the ups and the downs. So it’s a down moment right now, but everything’s going to be all right.”

It's hard to project where the Heat will opt to go from here, as Bosh is signed through the 2018-19 season, and owed $76 million up until his contract's completion. The team faces a tough decision, as, to release him could give way to another team picking him up, and if at any point he passes a league physical, the continuation of his contract would be put back on Miami's salary cap.
