After days of public unrest and calls for the release of body cam footage alleged to have captured the shooting death of Keith Lamont Scott by police in Charlotte, N.C. on Tuesday, several visuals from the scene were obtained by media sources on Friday [September 23]. One of the more graphic samples of media to surface was a 2:12-second long video recorded by Scott's wife, Rakeyia Scott, that was shot yards away from the scene. In it, she is heard warning officers not to shoot as their voices yell for the victim to exit his vehicle. Before informing them that Scott suffered from a traumatic brain injury and had just taken medicine, Mrs. Scott continues to tell the officers not to shoot, disputing their commands "put the gun down."

"Don't shoot him. Don't shoot him, he has no weapon. He has no weapon," Mrs. Scott begins. Before the standoff ends in bloodshed, she is heard advising him to come out of the car. While she approaches close enough to pick up a couple of officers standing their position, the view of Scott is blocked by other vehicles. At the moment shots ring out, the recording turns from focus, as it appears that she lowered her hand while moving closer, but she lifts it again after a short jog towards the street's curb. "Did you shoot him? Did you shoot him? "He better not be f---ing dead, he better not be f---ing dead," Mrs. Scott then screams, bringing the recording to focus on Scott, who lays face down as the officers place his hands in cuffs.

Meanwhile, police officials are reported to have released a photograph alleged to have been taken by a witness, which shows a gun by Scott's feet at the moment police moved in to arrest him. While Mrs. Scott's recording does not manage to give a clear graphic of the entire encounter, at no time during the moments that it does capture would there appear to rest a firearm.

The investigation is ongoing.
