Another officer involved shooting has occurred, but this time in North Carolina. Police went to search for a man that had an outstanding warrant at an apartment complex called, "The Village at College Downs" when they said they saw Keith Lamont Scott holding a gun while leaving his car. When Scott got out of the car and had a gun on him, the officers believed they were in danger, and an Officer fired a shot at Scott. Emergency services were called to the scene where they took Scott to Carolinas Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Officer Brently Vinson the officer who shot the victim has been placed on administrative leave following the shooting. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Chief Kerr Putney did say, "It's time to change the narrative, because I can tell you from the facts that the story is a little bit different as to how it has been portrayed so far, especially through social media." Putney explained there was no book on the scene, but there was a gun following claims on social media that Keith Lamont Scott was shot just for being in his car and reading a book.
