With police brutality getting captured on camera, politicians, and authoritative figures are confronted and even tried in court for their mishandlings. Though technology has only been around for a short time, instances as such have been brought up in discussions and complaints in the past. To some, the abuse of power to many may have been swept under the rug or even accepted as the norm. This is the case with Philly's own, Cassidy, who dates back today's atrocities to slavery and believes the issues at the hands of officers will never disappear. Despite facing legal troubles in the past, Cassidy tells DJ Vlad that police never beat him; however, he did have his run-ins with them. "I had a lot of issues with the cops, but that s*** is so normal," Cassidy said.

The rapper believes that the cops walking away clean from horrific cases from Freddy Gray to Eric Garner are also a norm in today's society and as he compares them to overseers on a plantation. "It goes back to the beginning of time. The overseers, they used to get off." He explained, "Whenever you [are] moving for them, for them to make money, you [are] going to be able to get away with it."
