In a typical gesture of support, Snoop Dogg came to Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott's defense amidst criticism over his recent visit to a marijuana dispensary in Seattle, on Friday, [August 26]. The Hip Hop/ cannabis icon posted a video to Instagram in which he put the told the NFL to catch up with the times.

“That n***a wasn’t stupid for going to the motherf*****g store, b***h. The NFL is stupid for still tripping on a motherf*****r for buying that shit. N****s go to the liquor store and get into car accidents, shootouts, and domestic violence,” Snoop ranted while watching an ESPN segment on the matter.

Much of the ridicule over Elliott's visit has to do with the timing. While there is no proof that he tried or purchased anything, he was spotted snooping around the premises just hours before the Cowboys showdown with the Seahawks. Reactions to the news have varied, with most characterizing it as a foolish decision. Former NFL star Darren Woodson spoke his disapproval, while Charles Barkley admitted to having tried it as a harmless substance, but none the less called it a poor choice. “This guy thinks he can just walk into a marijuana store, legal or not, it’s just a bad look," he said.
