Promising D.C. rapper Swipey, known for his substantial presence on the internet, was gunned down outside of his mother's residence in Prince George's County, Maryland early Sunday, [August 22]. He was 18-years-old.

Investigators have stated that they do not believe the murder was a random act and are continuing to gather information to determine a suspect and motive. Through statements made on behalf of Swipey's [born Douglas Brooks] family, manager Kevin Baldwin said that Swipey had gotten into an argument after a party at the Suitland home. The confrontation happened at around one a.m. and is said to have involved a girl he once courted.  Baldwin conveyed that later on a car would drive up and fire on the M.O.P3 artist. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
