Consequence recently admitted that he has previously ghostwritten for Jay-Z on a track for album, “The Black Album.”

He interviewed with Power 106 this week where he told the story behind the song that was produced by his friend Kanye West. “One record, in particular, I was happy about to be a part of was Jay-Z’s, Encore," he said. “When me and Kanye kinda was on the phone and we actually kinda came up with chorus back and forth.”

Consequence is not credited on the track so technically he ghostwrote for Jay-Z. He told the story to prove that some of our most revered rappers use help sometimes. And even though he’s participated in writing for people he understands why it can be such a controversial topic and why it became such an issue when Meek Mill revealed that Quentin Miller wrote for Drake. “It’s a little venomous to out somebody’s [ghostwriter],” he said. “Especially if you were paid, compensated and you did get your credit and publishing it’s kind of like that’s it. That’s just the closed deal. It’s a closed book.”
