For inquiring minds who still want to know what was behind Drake's photographed with Power 105.1 personality, Charlamagne Tha God—following his four-night finale at Madison Square Garden on Monday [August 8]—finally got some answers. Tha God himself has spoken on his Brilliant Idiots podcast implying that while it would be valid to have interpreted it as a shot at a frequent rival, their convergence was not initiated by Drake, but by himself, as a gesture of gratitude.

Fans will recall that in the heat of battle with Meek Mill last year, Drake invoked Charlamagne's name in his "Back to Back," diss. "You gonna make me step out of my f***in' frame/ You gonna make me buy bottles for Charlamagne," he rhymed, before making good on his word and having six bottles of Dom Perignon delivered to The Breakfast Club co-host. The move confused many, as up until that point, and even at times after the deed, Charlamagne had become famous for trolling the Toronto rapper. With Charlamagne having clowned Drake as "the guy using a feather to tickle people's toes," only days before the concert series, the photo caught those who've followed the saga for a loop.

According to Charlamagne, however, there is no reason why one ought to be surprised, recently stating, "We got such short term memories that they forgot when he sent me the bottles last year, he sent it with a card that said 'let's be friends.'"

Charlamagne explains that he has long meant to return the favor, but hasn't been able to due to their conflicting schedules. Upon learning that the OVO boss was going to be in town for the weekend, he had his assistant join him in hitting the liquor store to purchase six bottles of Ace of Spades champagne. In an all but direct knock at Hot 97, he then admits to having added a card that read "An Enemy of my enemy is my friend."
