News One Now host Roland Martin got on Bow Wow's case over recent remarks he made implying that he does not relate to the Civil Rights Movement because of his mixed heritage, on Thursday [July 28]. He also took on Nick Cannon on his choice to withhold his vote until politicians better address the issue of police violence in the Black community.

Firing off a series of impassioned tweets, Martin began with Bow Wow, calling his position on whether to carry on the mission of Black leaders who fought for the right to vote, as an individual mixed with European and Native American ancestry, "some of the dumbest ish" he has ever seen. Martin went on to note how the fair complexioned Ben Jealous is of mixed ethnicity, yet is noted for taking leadership of the NAACP.  He then went on to name Tim Wise, Linda Sarsour, and Carmen Perez as notable non-Black people who've defended civil rights, before pointing out that the President himself is mixed just like Bow Wow [Shad Moss] is. "Bruh, you really need to be educated," Martin continued. He then went in on Cannon with a couple of tweets that dismiss the logic of choosing not to vote, advising him to write in a name if he doesn't like the candidates writing.

Martin made headlines earlier in the year when he called out Snoop for boycotting the remake of the Roots television series. The two wound up embroiled in a spat that ended up splitting the opinion of Black Americans between those who agreed with Snoop that movies on Slavery are outdated and counterproductive, and those who agreed with Martin that talking Slavery continues to be necessary and in fact, is not explored enough in Hollywood. His exchange with Bow Wow and Cannon actually resulted in a much friendlier conclusion, with Bow Wow exchanging info to continue the conversation with Martin, and Cannon implying that the two actually agree on the matter.

"Thanks for enlightening me," Bow Wow replied.  "Got respect for you.  It's nothing a convo can't fix. I'm willing to learn .. There's a start."
