Birdman returned to ESPN on Thursday [July 28], filling in as a guest on several of the networks programs, including First Take and The Dan LeBatard Show with Stugotz. The topics of conversation ranged for the New Orleans mogul, but it was in fielding questions on recent transactions that have taken place in the NBA that he spoke most passionately. Most notable were his positions on Heat franchise face Dwyane Wade bouncing for Chicago, and the Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook fallout that everyone has been talking about since one of the sports' most trusted journalists [ESPN's Royce Young], implied that Durant had connived Russ into believing he would be returning to OKC.

"I think Durant should have reached out on a respect level like, 'Lil’ bro, this what I’m doing,' instead of just leaving him hanging," Birdman told Dan LeBatard, before going on to second his rebuke of KD and embellish his favor for the hard-nosed Thunder guard who complimented the future Golden State Warrior. "But I really feel that Westbrook, whatever move or decision he makes, he’s too dominant of a player. He’s like no-holds-barred. When he on that court, it’s like he’s fearless. He reminds me so much of me and what I do with my craft. I just think it’s no-holds-barred. But I also think what Durant did was very, very disrespectful."

Many on social media took exception to the Cash Money boss comparing himself to Westbrook, as they did earlier when they found themselves calling out hypocrisy upon hearing him speak of Dwyane Wade's ordeal on First Take. While on the segment, Birdman insisted that Miami Heat president Pat Riley should have put up the money to re-sign Wade. He also went on to put his NFL home team Saints under the microscope, saying that New Orleans QB Drew Brees deserves a new deal as well. His statements triggered a storm of responses from fans who held him to the fire on his long-running contractual dispute with flagship artist Lil Wayne.
