Brandy recently came out and called her record label "slave owners" for making her sign a contract that she became unhappy with during her time there. She also petitioned for her release.

Breyon Prescott, a rep for her label, Chameleon Entertainment, told TMZ that he believes the singer is trying to drum up publicity for herself and should have never used language like "slave owner" during a time when America has so much racial tension. He also claimed the company took a risk “signing an artist that hasn’t had a chart single success since the early 2000’s.”

Brandy previously sued the label claiming that it stopped her from recording and releasing new music. TMZ reported that Brandy and her lawyer read the contract before signing, so the label is confused as to why she’s making it into such an issue now. Despite the back and forth, Brandy’s rep told TMZ that she just wants out of her contract.
