July 20, 2016 will mark a seminal moment for the cartoon world, when at five p.m. an episode of Nickelodeon "The Loud House" airs the network's first show to cast a same-sex married couple. The characters will be that of a White man [Howard McBride] and a Black man [Harold McBride], who are the bi-racial parents of the show's kid co-star Clyde McBride.  The show will proceed to air on Wednesday nights.

"The Loud House," centers around the life of Lincoln Loud, raised as the only boy in a household of 10 sisters. During Wednesday's episode, titled "Overnight Success," his friend Clyde gets to discover what it might be like when invited for a sleepover at Lincoln's place. The show's writers appeared to be deliberate in how they introduce the McBrides, as a preview of the episode has young Clyde traveling past homes in the neighborhood with a walkie-talkie to his mouth, telling Lincoln, "My parents are walking me over now. Prepare for contact, in 3, 2, 1."  The scene then switches to Lincoln waiting by his door when he hears a knock.  "This is it. Time to make history," he says before answering to find the LGBT couple delivering their son. "Hey Clyde. Hi Mr. McBride. Hi Mr. McBride," Lincoln follows.

Harold and Howard McBride are voiced by actors Wayne Brady and Michael McDonald respectively.
