The deaths of unarmed black men Alton Sterling and Philando Castile have sparked much outrage in America because their deaths are a part of a scary pattern that continuously shows black citizens being taken out by police with no just cause. Most recently, 22-year-old Deravis Caine Rogers fell victim to a cop's bullet, as he was shot by ex-Atlanta police officer James Burns on June 22.

According to reports, an investigation into the shooting of Rogers has taken place, with Burns telling police that he blindly shot into the passenger side of the car that Rogers was in, unknowingly killing the young man. James Burns also tried to make a point that he fired shots at the car because the driver attempted to run him over. The Atlanta police confirmed that Burns' claim was false because his testimony contradicts the footage taken from the dash cam in his car. Since the shooting, James Burns was fired on July 1 and turned himself into police. The former officer was booked on charges of aggravated assault and felony murder.

Fulton County DA, Paul Howard, has plans on taking Burns' case to a grand jury next month. According to the results of the investigation, it was determined that Burns used excessive force on the 22-year-old. Howard gave a statement to the press, saying "By reason of the evidence presented by several eye-witnesses, videos, and the findings of the Atlanta Police Department, we will proceed in this case in the same manner as any other defendant similarly charged—arrest, indictment, and resolution."
