In a deal that gives him a player option on the third year of a three year, $36 million contract, former Knick Jeremy Lin will take the floor of the Barclays Center as a Brooklyn Net in 2016-17. Lin shared news of the signing via Twitter, writing "The journey continues...thankful for the next chapter!!" in the caption of a photo of him in the black and white uniform, before the Nets logo.

When New York last cheered the 27-year-old point guard on it was during his storybook rise in the 2011-12 season, when he averaged 18.7 points and 7.7 assists and helped propel the team to a playoff birth in a season which saw both Carmelo Anthony and Amare Stoudemire loose extensive time to injury. Lin's clutch contributions rode a streak that sparked the city into a frenzy that would be coined "Linsanity." Fans were left to their emotions when following the season, the Knicks, who remained skeptical as to whether or not his success was a fluke, passed on resigning Lin.

Lin averaged 11.7 points with 3.0 assists with the Charlotte Hornets over the 2015-16 season. He has scored 14.2 and compiled 5.7 assists lifetime. “I’m 27, and an athlete’s prime, or at least in the NBA, your prime is usually 27 to 30. That’s when you kind of peak physically, mentally and that’s where most players perform their best," Lin recently stated about his value on the market. He will balance big man Brook Lopez up top.
