The California State Capitol was shut down for several hours on Sunday, [June 26], after a melee that resulted in seven stabbings during a rally. Ten people were treated for injuries, including two who suffered critical wounds, when a demonstration organized by a white nationalist hate group calling itself the Traditionalist Worker Party, turned violent. The incident was captured on video that shows a portion of the brawl unfolding as attackers scream "racists" and "Nazi."

The TWP was said to have prepared for the possibility of a confrontation, writing on it's website that regardless of how dangerous the situation might have been, the group intended to go through with the rally to alert the public of “the precarious situation our race is in.” Up to 30 of the TWP's members showed up, but were outnumbered by up to 400 protesters who came to counter the demonstration. Among the hundreds of dissenters was a group of black clad anarchists who would initiate the fighting, forcing police in riot gear to move in shortly before noon.

“It was a very chaotic situation,” Sacramento fire department spokesman Chris Harvey said of the medics' response to the fracas. “All we could do was just grab, load and go.”
