Beanie Sigel enjoys new hip-hop while he’s in the club, but feels that the messages in the music are lacking because there are no “repercussions” for the younger generation when they rep certain lifestyles they don’t necessarily partake in.

The rapper referenced 2pac and the Notorious B.I.G. and how they delivered deep messages in their music in their early 20s. Nowadays, rappers are not rapping authentically with the same kind of content, according to Sigel. “That’s where I come from. You gotta say what you mean and mean what you say. And you got to repeat it,” he said to hiphopisreal.com. “That's what’s wrong with stuff right now. Ain’t nobody checking nobody. Ain’t no repercussions for nothing right now. You got these young boys, with no guidance, that walk around. They pants sagging because they want to show their belt off.”

Beanie Sigel claimed to be a “man’s man” during the interview and explained why he believes he’s been able to stay around all of these years. “All the accolades don’t define me. The money, the cars, the jewels, and all that never defined me,” he said. “I was who I was when I got off the steps. I’m who I am because of the trials and tribulations that I go through. I’m still here. I’ve been through it. I’m still here. There’s a purpose for that. I maintained my sanity because I’m comfortable with who I am.” The rapper said he’s good everywhere he goes because the hood supports him. He also claimed he never uses a limo service because he knows when he arrives in a new town, someone will be waiting at the airport to take him where he needs to go. “I got squads in cities and states that love me,” he said.
