Comedian Clint Coley saw Aries Spears' interview with VladTV recently, and was turned off by comments the 17-year comedy veteran made in regards to sketch comedy duo Key and Peele's cultural legitimacy in the Black community, he says. In an interview with ComedyHype.com on Wednesday [June 22], the Philly come-up called Spears out for judging fellow comedians and criticized him for what he claims is Spears' refusal to put striving Black comedians on.

"Who are you? first of all, you are not the Black police," Coley told Comedy Hype after admitting that he isn't a fan of Spears' artistry or attitude. "Aries Spears let me ask you a question. Why don't you let Black people open for you? That's in his contract; that he does not want Black opening comedians, because he's afraid that they gonna talk about the same s*** he talks about. But you talk about somebody else is not Black enough."

During his VladTV exclusive, Spears credited the "Keanu" actors for being talented and genuinely funny. But in addressing comments by Russell Simmons about Hollywood's selectivity when giving a platform to a style like theirs over that of traditional home grown Black comedians, he attested to them missing the vibe of a DMX, or even Will Smith, who he says could adapt to white audiences yet still be felt by Black America. He goes on to explore their parody of a slave auction, in comparison to a slave skit Dave Chappelle once produced, saying that in theirs he didn't sense any "comeuppance."

"Look, I worked with them on MAD. Good guys, good heart. Good guys, give you the shirt off their back," Aries said. "Is it ironic, is it a coincidence that most of their friends are white and got white wives?"
