Troy Ave entered a plea of not guilty at his Supreme Court arraignment in New York City on Wednesday, June 22. It was confirmed earlier this week that he faces five felony counts spanning across charges of attempted murder and gun possession, in connection with his alleged role in Irving Plaza concert shooting that killed one and injured three on May 25. He is scheduled to re-appear on July 1, when his defense team will present a bail package they hope will lead to his immediate release.

"Don't forget he is a victim here. He was shot by somebody else. His bodyguard was shot by somebody else. He should be let out on bail and treated like a victim," said attorney Scott Leemon, referencing the rapper's argument that he was only acting in self-defense when he fired five shots that he was captured letting off on video surveillance. According to Leemon and his partner John Stella, Troy is only being charged for the violence that occurred on the balcony of the club, adding that what happened inside of the green room is still under investigation. Three of the counts against him are for additional gun charges that were added on account of weapons recovered from inside of his vehicle after the attack.

Troy showed up to the court room with his wrists cuffed to the arms of the wheelchair in which he remained seated throughout. He continues to heal from the two gunshot wounds he sustained in what he claims was an ambush that occurred before he wrestled the firearm away. As of now he remains in custody without bail, but his lawyers are said to be working out a request that he be let go on $500,000 with the attachment of a GPS monitoring device.
