Waka Flocka believes “clever rapping,” or Hip-Hop that contains complex lyrics is not what’s “popping” in the music industry today.

He didn’t write-off that type of music completely, but did say it's not the popular style right now while speaking with Acton Entertainment this week. “People got the most excuses when they can’t get no money. These n***as over here rapping about pancakes, and they mad n***as don't want to eat no breakfast. It’s dinner time n****a. Shut the f**k up. All that clever rapping. That sh** is over with. It’s here. But that ain’t what entertains people today. It ain’t that they don’t wanna hear that sh**. It’s just not what’s popping right now,” he said. Flocka touched on many other aspects of his career in the interview, and mentioned that his new album “Flockaveli 2” will drop by the fourth quarter. He also told listeners not to expect a bunch of features on the project.

“Feature wise, I think the people don’t want to hear that sh*t. People that follow my music they wanna hear me. No features. They want that underground Flocka. They don’t want me trying to be spicy and trying to do too much,” he said. “They don’t wanna see me with a Jay Z feature. A Wayne feature. Kanye on there. Drake. That’s like a compilation CD. To me if you got a album you should have no features. It should be just you.” He also was asked about using Timbaland as a producer on the project, but said he prefers using the people he normally works with like Metro Boomin, Lex Luger, 808 Mafia and Sonny Digital.
