Noor Salman, the second wife of the Orlando shooter Omar Mateen, reportedly had prior knowledge of his attack on the gay nightclub and did not inform authorities.

Salman told the FBI that she was with Mateen when he purchased the ammunition and holster to carry out the attack, according to NBC News. She also admitted to driving him to the Pulse Night Club because he wanted to scope it out. She has been cooperating with investigators, however, she may be charged despite her help. Salman also told authorties that she tried to stop the attack. Salman and Mateen have one child together. She has not spoken out publicly since the shooting.

Mateen’s first wife, Sitora Yusufiy, claimed her ex-husband had a side to him that he didn’t want exposed, that led him to gay nightclubs like Pulse. “Well when we had gotten married, he confessed to me about his past that was recent at that time and that he very much enjoyed going to clubs and the nightlife and there was a lot of pictures of him,” she said to CNN. “I feel like it’s a side of him or part of him that he lived but probably didn’t want everybody to know about.” Regulars at the night club he shot up said they spotted him there often and he’s even chatted with gay men on dating apps, according to sources.

Mateen’s exact motive is unclear at this time, however, he did pledge allegiance to ISIS during the attack in a 911 call. His father, Seddique Mateen, hosts a Afghan television program that features a Taliban slant with anti-U.S. rhetoric. He’s publicly distanced himself from his son’s actions since the attack. Matinee brutally murdered 49 people at the nightclub using a legally purchased AR-15 on Sunday (June 12).
