The Paterson, New Jersey school city district is currently investigating Fetty Wap’s “Wake Up” music video that was filmed at one of its high schools.

Officials are concerned over some of the content in the video including a stripper and various drug references throughout the song which encourages listeners to get “Wiz Khalifa high.” The video was filmed inside Eastside High School, according to Fetty Wap’s social media. The district is now investigating how the rapper was granted permission to film there.

“As there are procedures that must be followed in securing the use of our facilities, whether all procedures were followed is in question and being investigated - and will be addressed as a personnel matter,” said Terry Corallo, a spokeswoman for the district to NJ Advance this week. “The district does not endorse the content of this video.” Corallo revealed that they believe it was shot during non-school hours and that no students were involved with the video.

“Wake Up” was described as “a song for everyone that celebrates 4/20 all year but still passes that math test” on Fetty Wap’s Instagram. “Dont let nobody tell y'all different. My new single, Wake Up, is for my fans, for 4/20, for the summer, lets get it…link in bio,” wrote Wap on Instagram last month. The video features posters and banners that read “Go Team Kush,” in reference to the pro-marijuana message on the track. A woman is also seen using an apple as a bong towards the end of it. Coincidentally, the school district has seen a huge increase in drug use with a 70 percent increase in positive drug tests being taken in the area recently.

Sources close to the rapper told TMZ that Fetty was approved to shoot the video at his former high school, and they added that the song is about getting high off success, not drugs.
