The legal system may never be the same should a new revolutionary idea in litigation happen to take root. JammedUp.com is a website that models itself after sites like Yelp, EBay, and Angie's List, allowing for criminal defendants to post their cases online for lawyers, bondsmen, or investigators to bid on. “We’re one-stop shopping, the Home Depot of the legal field, whatever you need," offers Ira Judelson, himself a celebrity bail bondsman.

One of the company's most credible co-signers has been rapper Fat Joe, who recently completed a four month sentence on tax evasion. “I’ve had numerous friends growing up in the South Bronx who’ve gotten in trouble with the law, and back in the day, I’ve had whatever issues I had, and I wasn’t sure I was satisfied with the attorneys I hired,” Joey said of the platform, which allows users to check up on a bidder's history along with reviews from former clients, before selecting a winning offer. Criminal lawyer Dawn Florio for one, has encouraged usage of the site as a helpful resource for defendants with meager ends to get the best bang for their buck, saying, “A lot of times they’ll go with the person who fits their budget. This just streamlines the process. It makes it easier.”

Judelson proposes the site as ideal for citizens fighting any case, whether it be over a fine, divorce, assault, or murder. However, the concept also has it's skeptics.  Lawyer Todd Spodek, who is himself a member of the site, has expressed having qualms over whether information posted on the site is secure. “If a defendant is charged with felony assault and fills out a simple questionnaire describing the case, I’d be concerned that the DA could subpoena that,” he said.
