The University of Georgia athletic director regrets providing Ludacris with a bevy of goodies including liquor, and magnum condoms, for a performance at the school in April.

The “Area Codes” rapper was paid $65,000 for a 15-minute set on April 16 and had a hospitality rider list that included tons of booze, a box of magnum trojans and various snacks. Athletic director Greg McGarity views the accommodations as a mistake and publicly admitted them this week at a board room meeting at the Ritz Carlton Lodge at Reynolds Plantation on Thursday. “I do want to take this opportunity to apologize to our board for mistakes we made with certain aspects of the details of an entertainment agreement,” said McGarity, according to Online Athens. “Few things in my professional life have bothered me more that this situation. There are no reruns in life so we need to turn the page, learn from our mistakes and do everything we can to make sure errors of this nature do not reoccur.”

The UGA president Jere Morehead “appreciated” McGarity and the school’s athletic department acknowledging the mistake and taking responsibility. “Obviously in retrospect they should have done a more thorough job reviewing all of the riders and removing those that were objectionable. I appreciate that he’s accepted that that’s what athletics should have done and what it will do moving forward,” said Morehead. Contents of the rider were revealed through an open records request by the Athens Banner-Herald and other media outlets. After the list went public, McGarity started hearing complaints from different groups and had to acknowledge it. “Some more than others as far as different age groups,” he said. “It was all over the map. I think there were a lot of things that came into play.”
