Houston rapper Slim Thug took to Instagram this week to address the shooting at the T.I. concert in New York City that involved Troy Ave.

Thugger had harsh words for Troy Ave in the short clip, and urged other young rappers to “smarten up” when it comes to handling situations. “You know n****as be doing a lot of dumb sh** man. How you think your gonna get away with shooting a n**** in the club man like people ain’t got cameras everywhere you go nowadays man? Where can you go in the world where ain’t no camera looking at you man? Why is you shooting at a club in New York and you known? People know who you are,” said Slim Thug in the clip. He then went on to explain why Troy Ave’s actions were damaging to his career. “You was making some money. I don’t care if it’s $1000 a night whenever you perform. Get off the dumb sh** man. This is not ‘Belly.’ You can’t just walk in there and chop it up. And get away. It ain’t real man. Wake up young n****ga. Ya’ll too dumb. Get off the dumb sh** and do some smart sh** man, he continued.

Slim Thug is referring to the actions of Troy Ave who as caught on video this week shooting at people during a T.I. concert in New York City. Viewers can make out the rapper’s face in the clip. He was arrested yesterday for his involvement in the shooting and is being charged with  criminal possession of a weapon and attempted murder, according to the NYPD’s Twitter. Troy Ave was shot during the melee and his bodyguard and friend Ronald “Banga” McPhatter was killed.  McPhatter’s family condemned the rapper’s actions while speaking with the NY Daily News this week. “He actually cared a lot about Troy Ave. My wish is that Troy Ave cared as much about my son as he cared about him. I say that because I watched how my son would always bend over backwards to help him,” said the victim’s mother. “If [Troy Ave] cared about my son as much as he alleged does, I would’ve received a call from him. He didn’t call me. He didn’t call any of my other sons.”
