According to reports, 78-year-old comedy legend Bill Cosby may finally have his day in court after new evidence in his ongoing sexual assault case was discovered in court on Tuesday (May 24). Over 50 women have came forward over the last decade, accusing Cosby of drugging them and sexually assaulting him. Apparently it was his legal run-in with accuser, Andrea Constand, that has sealed the actor’s fate and could possibly have him living out the rest of his days behind bars if found guilty.

On Tuesday, a Pennsylvania judge determined in a hearing that there was indeed enough evidence to push forward with a trial stemming from Constand’s case from 2004. Well over a decade later, chickens from Cosby’s past have definitely come home to roost, as he is now facing three counts of felony aggravated indecent assault charges for allegedly drugging Constand and then sexually assaulting her.

If convicted of the crimes, the elderly Cosby could receive a sentence of up to 30 years behind bars. Needless to say, Cosby’s defense team wasn’t too thrilled about moving forward with a trial for a case that is 12 years old. Cosby’s attorney, Brian McMonagle wasn’t shy about hiding his disdain about moving forward with the trial and shared,"The evidence presented today was evidence of nothing. They had 12 years to bring an accuser to confront Mr. Cosby. They chose not to.There was no evidence of a crime here. And the inconsistencies that plagued this investigation from the beginning continue to plague it now. This case should end immediately."

To make matters worse, Constand was not in court on Tuesday, a fact that, McMonagle tried to use to the best of his advantage and attempted to discredit her in doing so. In excerpts from courtroom documents, McMonagle shares his frustrations behind Constand’s statement from 12 years ago being admitted as evidence. As of now, the judge has yet to set a trial date. Story developing.
