A Kanye West beat tape likely crafted around the time he was ghost producing for Bad Boy's Derek D.Dot Angelettie has surfaced and features a few familiar cuts.

The demo is said to be from 1997 and was unearthed by KanyeToThe. Two beats from the tape were used by artists with one appearing on a Grav song, and the other being used for “What You Do to Me” from Syndicate’s “Changing The Game” album.” Around that time, West was working with Angelettie who was crafting beats for Bad Boy’s roster which featured Ma$e and The Lox and the Notorious B.I.G. The two have both confirmed it. Kanye discussed it in his song “Last Call” off “The College Dropout” and Angelettie spoke about it in several interviews. The tape features beats that emulate the era with the classic 1990s boom bap sound.

Kanye West broke into the rap game as a producer and truly made a name for himself working with Jay Z in the early 2000s on albums like “The Dynasty,” “The Blueprint,” and “The Black Album.” As a beatmaker for Rocafella records, West built relationships with Damon Dash and Jay Z that would lead to a record deal as a rapper. In 2004, he released “The College Dropout” and the rest is history. He would go on to produce most of his solo albums and other artists on his G.O.O.D. Music label. These days, he prefers to collaborate with other producers while making beats.
