One night after the Billboard Awards, Justin Bieber shared his thoughts on why he doesn't like awards shows. JB took to the 'gram with the posting of an image of sheep in the foreground of a castle; stating that he doesn't feel good when he performs at awards shows, and he openly pondered whether his peers in the business also crave something more "authentic".

"I get the premise is to award people for their accomplishments, but is it really? Because when I look in the audience I see a bunch of fake smiles so that when the camera hits them they look happy," Bieber wrote. "I am privileged and honored to be recognized by my peers in but in these settings I can't feel the recognition."

The "Purpose" singer definitely capitalized on Sunday night, taking home Best Male Artist and owning significant air-time with performances of "Sorry" and "Company".  All things considered, he appeared to head into the event with optimism, as he was said to have displayed great enthusiasm during rehearsals. But it was clear to viewers that the 22-year-old singer wasn't feeling the ambiance, as a camera happened pan towards him as he stood blinking stoically while those around him bounced to the performance at hand with glee.

“A lot of people in the audience there seem worried about how much camera time they will get or who they can network with,” he wrote, in an attempt to explain why he felt conflicted. “When I’m doing a regular show I feel they are there for the right reasons and to strictly have a good time!”

While Bieber may have taken purpose away from it all, according to press reports there hasn't been much grace to his PR of late. Some weeks ago young Biebs took a stand to let fans know that constant requests for selfie pictures made him "feel like a zoo animal." The analogy came two months after he canceled the meet-and-greet portion of his tours, citing depression over being forced to interact with fans.  On both occasions he seemed, as he did during the Billboards, to be speaking on behalf of artists in general.
