Things heated up rather quickly in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Toronto Raptors on Saturday (May21) night. Although the Cavs took the first two wins of the series, the Raptors redeemed themselves on Saturday by securing their first win, making it a 2-1 game, after beating out the Cavs with a final score of 99 to 84. However, Saturday wasn’t without its mishaps, as towards the end of the first half of the game, a brief scuffle between Bismack Biyombo and Tristan Thompson ensued, which resulted in LeBron James taking an elbow to the face.

During the second half of Game 3, a brief encounter between Biyombo and Thompson almost got physical between the opposing players prior to, Corey Joseph stepping into diffuse the situation. Right at that particular moment, Thompson decided to fling his arm backwards as to shrug Joseph off, and as a result ending up landing a direct blow to James who came to investigate the situation, sending him flying across the court in a dramatic flop. At the same time James made his way into the vicinity, DeMarre Carroll walked up as well, and as a result received the technical foul for elbowing James.

Upon game officials reviewing the play, footage revealed that James’ own teammate, Thompson was the culprit. In turn, refs awarded technicals to Thompson and Joseph, and gave a personal foul to Biyombo.

Watch the confusion ensue above. Do you think James was a wee bit overly dramatic?
