Gene Simmons continues to speak his mind on various figures and artists, no matter bad the timing is or how negative his statement may be. Previously, Simmons commented on N.W.A.’s induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, saying “I am looking forward to the death of rap,” which led to him and Ice Cube exchanging words via Twitter.

Now, Simmons has focused his attention on another artist — Prince. This time, Simmons commented on Prince’s death to Newsweek, calling it “pathetic.” Simmons said “Bowie was the most tragic of all because it was real sickness. All the other ones were a choice. His drugs killed him. What do you think, he died from a cold? Simmons went on to say “I think Prince was heads, hands and feet above all the rest of them. I thought he left [Michael] Jackson in the dust. Prince was way beyond that. But how pathetic that he killed himself. Don’t kid yourself, that’s what he did. Slowly, I’ll grant you... but that’s what drugs and alcohol is: a slow death.”

Gene Simmons’ statement comes less than three weeks after the death of Prince, who passed away on April 21 at the age of 57.
