In January 2016, Johnny Manziel allegedly hit his ex-girlfriend Colleen Crowley in a domestic violence incident outside of a Dallas hotel. The two had an argument that led to Crowley being forced into a car, despite the fact that she was crying for help. She told police that when she tried to leave the car, Manziel assaulted her. According to Crowley, Manziel also threatened to kill himself. Since then, Crowley has gotten a restraining order against Manziel, which is valid for two years. Along with the restraining order, Manziel was ordered to pay for $12,000 in legal fees.

According to Johnny Manziel’s attorney, the 2012 Heisman trophy winner turned himself into Texas police, and was able to post a $1,500 dollar bond. This comes after being indicted last month by a grand jury in Dallas for the alleged misdemeanor assault charge against Crowley.

The former Cleveland Browns quarterback has since been cut by the team, lost his Nike endorsement, and he has also been dropped by two agents. Manziel is scheduled to appear in a Dallas County courtroom on Thursday (May 5), where his lawyers say he will plead not guilty. If convicted, the former football player will face up to one year in jail, along with $4,000 in fines.

After posing for a mugshot, Manziel addressed the situation in a now-deleted tweet that read, "Just thankful I had a shirt this time." You can check out the tweet and mugshot up top.
