A month after postponing her 'Unbreakable' tour with the announcement that she and billionaire husband Wissam Al Mana, 41, were planning a family, sources have confirmed that Janet Jackson is pregnant with her first child.  The early Mother's Day surprise comes to public knowledge only two weeks shy of her 50th birthday (on May 16th).

Many of the performance icon's fans who had purchased tickets for one of her 32-city shows expressed feeling blindsided by what she called the "planning" of her family with Al Mana, in a video released online in early April.  But for the thrice married Jackson, time was apparently of the essence.  “Please, if you could try and understand that it’s important that I do this now,” she said at the time (April 6). “I have to rest up, doctor’s orders. But I have not forgotten about you. I will continue the tour as soon as I possibly can.”  Her Cleveland stop was then rescheduled for August 28.

The news perhaps answers a couple of questions that lingered after her announcement.  It wasn't clear whether her plan with Al Mana was to plan for adoption, surrogacy, or pregnancy.  It has now been confirmed that the later is true.  Jackson has long been discrete about such personal matters of the family, as was evident by her 2012 marriage, which was carried out in secrecy.  The question of raising a family came up in 2008, when ET interviewed her about then-boyfriend, Jermaine Dupri. "I would love to have children of our own, but we also would love to adopt," she was reported saying. "So, we'll see what happens. It'll happen someday."
