Additional counts of sexual abuse of a child under the age of 12 were charged against a man from Stockholm, Maine, on Monday (May 2), as victims continued to come forward following his arrest at a petting zoo in Alabama, Saturday.  48-year-old Daryl V. Raymond Jr., a [former] employee for the traveling Jungle Safari, now faces 5 counts of the Class B Felony.  He is being held at the Lauderdale County Detention Center on a bond of $250,000.

Officials state that they were informed about the first two allegations on Friday (April 29).  Barring detail into the incidents, it was reported that an investigation had identified Raymond as the accused, resulting in his arrest in Florence the following morning.  On Monday the number of alleged victims had risen to 5, with 3 more children having come forward with claims, said Florence Police Sgt. Brad Holmes.  It is reported that the Florida-based zoo, which has traveled to fairs and festivals across the country, has since packed up and moved on.

“It is very disturbing to everyone that got involved in the case,” said Will Powell with the Lauderdale County District Attorney’s Office. “Our concern is, since this is a traveling organization, that there are other victims out there.”
