While his interview with The Breakfast Club was short lived last week, Birdman granted Hot 97's Ebro and Stylez all-access to his home in Miami for a sit-down. During the interview Birdman spoke about confronting the radio hosts, and he explained that he felt Charlamagne in particular had been disrespecting his name for years.
Birdman told Ebro, "I was comin' to New York anyway, and I felt like it was time for me to go sit down and see this man," adding, "I am, probably, done sold more records than any company ever, since hip-hop started...I'm gonna make sure that man respect me as a man."
The Cash Money CEO also spoke about how he felt after "respek" started trending online, and he admitted that he thought that people were making fun of his New Orleans slang at first. However, Birdman said that if people were going to be joking about the situation he would like to make some money off of it, which is why he decided to put out his t-shirt line featuring popular phrases from the interview.
