Kenya is determined to end illegal wildlife trade, and President Uhuru Kenyatta staged the biggest ivory burn to make his point clear. Over 200,000 pounds of ivory was burned in Nairobi national park, which was more than eight times that has ever been burned at one time.

Thousands of people came out for the event, including conservationists, United Nations officials, along with presidents Ali Bongo of Gabon and Yoweri Museveni of Uganda. Kenya's Wildlife Service also commented on the situation, revealing that the tusks represented over 8,000 elephants and around 343 rhinos.
