A Jacksonville, FL patrol officer was arrested and terminated Thursday (April 28), following two separate assaults on a woman that were each captured on video, and have since gone viral. Footage of one of the incident shows 26-year-old rookie, Akinyemi Borisade, landing an assortment of full forced blows to the modest body of a handcuffed Mayra Alejandra Martinez, 31, before she slumps to the ground, on the evening of his arrest. Viewers of the surveillance have expressed outrage, further disturbed by the fact that 3 officers stand around observing as the attack takes place.

Both recordings were taken on Wednesday (April 27), with the first occurring in broad daylight, in the parking lot of a Scores Gentleman's Club on University Blvd. In the first video Martinez is grabbed by two officers in what appears to be an attempt to cuff her, before a skirmish ensues. She is then taken to the ground where she attempts to wrestle loose from under Borisade, who then begins to wail away at her head and back with his fists, as the accompanying officer lays her flat and pins her down. He continues to pound at her even as the assisting officer seemingly has her fully constrained, at one point repeatedly slamming her face into the ground.

"There are ways that this could have been dealt with without striking her," said Under-sheriff Pat Ivey, following Borisade's charge on battery and subsequent release from the force. He defended that the accomplice officers would not suffer infractions, stating that even in refraining from intervening they had committed no crime. Borisade he said however, had the option to neutralize her “in a transporting position that they are trained in ... but there was no need to strike her.”

Martinez' run in with the Sheriff's officers came after they received a call at 4:50 p.m. reporting a dispute between a manager and employee of the club. According to management she was drinking on what happened to be her first day on the job. Upon being confronted, she is reported to have quit and caused a ruckus on her way out into the lot. According to Martinez she had been suddenly told to leave, and having explained to officers that she still had belongings, including her purse inside of the establishment, was denied re-entry. The woman, apparently intoxicated, then began to get physical and was informed she was being arrested for resisting officers with violence. That is when the initial incident began and as it turned out, was captured on a dash cam.

Later on in the processing area of the Duval County jail, the second incident jumped off, when a cuffed Martinez attempts to walk off and is forced back against a wall. She responds with two kicks, before Borisade loses control, striking her 5 times from the stomach up to her chest, leaving her to fall to the ground. One of the witnessing officers walks over and gently touches Borisade on the elbow, but does not at that point assist Martinez on the ground.
