The son of Baltimore Ravens great Ray Lewis turned himself over to police in Conway, South Carolina, on charges of sexual assault, Friday (April 29). The detainment of 20-year-old Ray Anthony Lewis, III, was ordered in relation to an alleged incident involving two women at an apartment off of the Coastal Carolina University campus in January. He has been charged with third degree criminal sexual conduct.

According to police, reports detail events [on January 23rd] leading to the accused committing the "knowledgeable sexual battery" of an 18-year-old while she is said to have been rendered incapacitated by the use of alcohol and/or drugs. A rape kit is reported to have been later administered at Grand Strand Hospital, where authorities collected lab results to compile with witness statements and the victim's claims. The evidence was reviewed by the 15th Circuit Solicitor's Office, which then produced the warrant for Lewis, III's arrest.

Attorney's representing Lewis in the case released the following statement: "Ray Lewis III is innocent of all charges and we expect him to be fully vindicated by the end of this matter."

Lewis, III completed a year in attendance at CCU after transferring from his father's University of Miami alma mater. Over the 12 games of the school's 2015 season, the sophomore cornerback was credited with 14 tackles. He was suspended indefinitely from the program upon news of his arrest, with the university stating that it is active in the investigation process.
