Rachel Roy came forward Tuesday, in hopes of putting an end to rumors that she is the subject of lyrics on a track off of Beyonce's new Lemonade project. The already infamous bombardment of social media attacks on Roy, following speculation that she implicated herself as the homewrecker alluded to on the song 'Sorry', had spun too far out of control the designer suggested, with claims that she had even begun to receive death threats. Her disavowal comes a day after she suddenly cancelled out of a high brow speaking engagement in New York City.

"I want to put the speculation and rumors to rest. My Instagram post was meant to be fun and lighthearted, it was misunderstood as something other than that," Roy told People magazine. "There is no validity to the idea that the song references me personally. There is no truth to the rumors."

The aforementioned IG post showed the sleek brunette chuckling along with a friend, above a caption that read in part, "good hair don't care." The timing of the posting provoked a bombardment of hostile responses, as only hours before marked HBO's Saturday night premiere of Beyonce's short film; in which the reigning pop queen evokes the topic of infidelity, in one verse warning that her lover "better call Becky with the good hair." The swarm of comments from Beyonce supporters, famously referred to as her 'Beyhive', had gotten so pressing that Roy would later put out a tweet to infer her respect for marriage. But the subsequent message perhaps further fueled skeptics, driving her to make her account private; a move that would prove futile, as they began to then flood her daughter's page.

"Consequently, online haters have targeted me and my daughters in a hurtful and scary manner, including physical threats," Roy exclaimed. "As a mother – and I know many mothers would agree – I feel that bullying in any form is harmful and unacceptable."

Ultimately there is no proof that Beyonce's lyrics are detailing a factual event. Although the singer has prodded with reference to having been betrayed, before, it has never been publicly confirmed that Jay-Z cheated. It was widely rumored that a 2014 elevator altercation between Jay and Bey's sister Solange had something to do with her disapproval of how close he had gotten with another woman in their circle, and some inner sources indicated it may have been Roy at the time. But a statement put out to address the incident never mentions such a woman's involvement.
