It’s been a busy week for Atlanta artist iLoveMakonnen. Drake’s former protégé stirred up a bit of controversy after he abruptly exited the Toronto native’s label, OVO Sound, citing issues over the promotion of his mixtape. Makonnen, further incited rumors of a rift with Drake after posting videos on Snap Chat poking fun at Drakes’ album title, calling it “dumba**”, and insinuating that OVO Sound stopped promoting his music as a result of his recent weight loss.

Makonnen took to twitter to address the jokes he made about the VIEWS rapper which he says are being taken out of context. The “Tuesday” singer said, “I don't have no beef, jokes have been taken out of context, please stop being so thirsty for negative s--t and spread positive.” The clarification comes after Drake’s fans denounced the former OVO signed artist and blasted his musical talents without the help of Drake and his famed producer 40.

Drake has yet to comment on iLoveMakonnen’s departure from OVO or the comments made by the Warner Bros. signed artist.
