Bryan “Mannie Fresh” Thomas rose to fame along side his childhood friend, Birdman, as Cash Money Record’s in house producer and one half of the Big Tymers . Since, leaving the label in 2005 he has largely distanced himself from the label and all acts associated with it.

On Friday (April 22nd), Mannie Fresh made a rare public acknowledgment of his former band mate on Instagram. The producer posted an astronaut themed video on Instagram saying, “N-gga I’m all the way out here in Mars and I know one thing, ya’ll better better put some respek on my name.” Referring to Birdman’s viral commands to hosts of Power 105.1’s The Breakfast Club.

Mannie Fresh left the label in 2005 over unpaid royalties for his production on numerous multi-platinum singles like, “Back That A—Up”, “Still Fly”, and “Bling Bling”. Mannie Fresh argued that his production style undoubtedly helped established the label amongst the hip hop heavy weights and drove album sales. Cash Money Records is subject of many claims of financial mismanagement by current and former artists signed to the label.

Mannie Fresh captioned the funny video saying, “Respek my name”.
