On Thursday, fans worldwide were shocked to learn of the news of musical icon, Prince Rogers Nelson passing at the mere age of 57. According to reports, the seven-time Grammy award winning artist was found unresponsive by medical personnel in an elevator at his Paisley Park estate in Chanhassen, Minn. Although the details surrounding his death are not yet available, rumors are now beginning to swirl that the legend was struggling with a secret drug addiction and that he was treated for a drug overdose just days before his death.

Earlier this month it was reported by his publicist that he had been sick with the flu, and as a result was forced to cancel two shows. Despite making up the rescheduled show on [April.14] for his 'A Piano and Microphone Tour', Prince’s medical condition took a turn for the worse just 45 minutes away from his own home when his plane on April 15 had to make an emergency landing at Quad-City International Airport in Moline, Ill. Prince was then rushed to Trinity Moline Medical Center where he was treated for “bad dehydration.”

According to TMZ, Prince was given a “save shot,” typically a protocol administered to counteract the effects of an opiate. Upon learning that he could not obtain a private room, Prince and entourage left the hospital just three hours after arriving. Sources suggest he was not in good shape and far from a picture of perfect health. To make matters worse, after prematurely leaving the hospital he reportedly had a 200 guest dance party at his Paisley Park home (April 16) where he appeared roughly for about five minutes witnesses recalled before calling it a night.

We will stay tuned as this story continues to develop. Our prayers continue to go out to his family and all those impacted by his death.
